Hello welcome to our web site.

| Carlton Farms started in 1967 with my parents Arland and Janis Carlton,
when they bought 45 acres in the foot hills of the Ozark Mountains. They started with angus cross cattle.
I, William, was raised and lived on a farm almost all my life. While I was in FFA, I raised and showed
Yorkshire hogs, commercial cattle and horses. I attended the U of A for one year then left to get married. |
 | We have been learning about goats through Langston University : Goat Reasearch and Extension.
This program is an outline of how to protect your goats from disease and predators. It also gives general information
about goats. It also gives a test on each category so you can test your knowledge. Bill has completed the course
and will be using his knowledge for goat care. Zanetta and Nancy have now passed the course. Cynthia will
now start working on it and we can't wait till all of us are Certified Quality Producers, but 3 of the 4 of us is a very
good start. It is a very very intailed course on meat goat production.

I married a high school sweetheart Nancy Thacker. Nancy was not raised on a farm but she has learned
the animals very well. She has turned into a real farmer. Bill left the farm to work in law enforcement and ems.
He works at the local hospital as an EMT-I and also on the local fire dept.as a Captain. Nancy works at WalMart
as a CSM. We have two lovely girls Zanetta and Cynthia. They are members of the Boone County 4-H,Caprine Kids,
and Valley/Everton 4-H clubs. Zanetta served as reporter for Caprine Kids in 2006-07 and President 2007-08. Zanetta
is a member of the Valley Springs FFA Chapter at Valley Springs High School. She has received her Greenhand Award in
2007, her Chapter Farmer Award in 2008 and serving as a Junior Advisor in 2008-09, and on the Valley Springs show
team for last 2 years.
June 2008 Zanetta and Cynthia attended the 1st Annual Northwest Arkansas Goat Camp.
They learned how to groom and care for wethers. The Camp was put on by Kip and Stacey Brown of Mississippi. Cynthia
got 3rd in her Showmanship Class and Zanetta won her class and received a very nice belt buckle.
June 2008 Zanetta
and Cynthia both received their Herdsmanship Award from the International Boer Goat Assoc. This award is awarded to
youth that has put in 600 hours working with their goats/ or goat related activities. Both girls did this within
one year. See IBGA page for more information on this award.

 | In 2005 we started to get interested in the farm again. I got some cattle and the "Girls" wanted goats
and we had pondered the thought of Boer goats. Zanetta started asking around school and everyone said she should get wethers
well I thought the girls would do better with breeding stock so they went and bought 3- 50% boer cross doelings in May
2006 and I contacted a friend of mine that was in the Boers. He said to come look at his he had some for sale.
Zanetta was in Mexico on a missionary trip and the rest of the family went to look. We came home
with 19 more head of fullbloods, American purebred and percentage does with kids. When Zanetta returned
home she was surprised. |

In June 2006 we bought 7 more does and one buck. The North Arkansas Meat Goat Assocation www.arkansasmeatgoat.com had a production sale and my wife bought another Buck (Paint) from Ken Zimer, yes we love our paints and colored goats.
Then my Mother, Janis, and Father, Arland, got in to the goats with 5 head. The girls started showing in September
of 2006 at the Boone County, AR Fair. They did very well. The next week was Northwest Arkansas District Fair they did very
well there too. The next show was in Mt. Home, Arkansas for North Arkansas Junior District Spring Fair. This is
where it started coming together. The girls won Several Divison Champions and one Overall Grand Champion. The next
showing was again in Harrison, AR at the 3rd Annual Spring Classic. They did very well there too. While showing
there Zanetta heard of a buck for sale and when she got home she looked at him and really wanted him. The next day she
talked to Mark Berry www.berrysghfarm.com about MACG MAC GOATS FANTASTIK well I must say he is FANTASTIK , now we have a new Herd Sire.
Fantastik is a very deep and stout ,heavy muscled goat. He has gotten a little spirited since he has company in
his pen. We put six jr bucks with him and that has changed him a little. The girls still do not have
any trouble getting him to do what he is supposed to do. The girls are enjoying spending time with their goats and the
kids as they come along.

 | We bought a doeling off of Tim and Kristi Mullins www.rockinmgoatranch.com in late May 2007 . She's out of Muzri Grandson Cedar Post Farms Johnny Fever and this doe carries the bloodline
of Popeye, Samson and Doemaker. She is correct in all aspects for showing with muscling and length like her grandsire
Critter Ridge Kato, shes thick and heavy muscled. She will be in the ring also in July at the Intlbga show |
On October 12th, 2007 the Girls bougth out Joe and Gloria Fisher's Boer Goat herd that consisted of 24 does and one buck.
These Does will greatly improve our herd and the buck is very close in apperance to Fantastik. We will be looking
forward to the kids arriving very soon.
